Seeing Palm Grill earn a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the first-ever Michelin Guide Philippines honestly feels personal. This cozy Tomas Morato spot isn’t just another restaurant to me, it’s where my high school batchmates and I hosted a surprise baby shower for my best friend’s first baby, who also happens to be my goddaughter.

I chose Palm Grill because of its unique Mindanaoan offerings—flavors that were new to our palate yet deeply comforting. True enough, every dish, from the Piyanggang Manok to the Knicker Fruit Halo-Halo, was bursting with soul and storytelling. The space had that warm, welcoming vibe that made our small celebration feel extra special.

It also makes me even prouder knowing this milestone belongs to Chef Miggy Moreno, whom I first met back in my previous job, long before he entered the restaurant world. Even then, he had this quiet passion and creativity that you just knew would take him places.
To see Palm Grill now recognized by Michelin for “good quality, good value cooking” feels like watching a friend’s dream come full circle. Congratulations, Chef Miggy and team, you’ve put Mindanaoan cuisine on the global map, one soulful dish at a time.
Looking forward to dining again at Palm Grill—and trying Chef Miggy’s other Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, Cabel, soon!
