My topic for my blog post for the day is: Editor-In-Chief
What is an Editor-in-Chief?
Accdg. to Merriam Webster: an editor who heads an editorial staff.
Accdg. to Wikipedia: is a publication's primary head, having final responsibility for all the operations and policies.
and Accdg. to TheFreeDictionary.com: the controlling editor of a publication.
Each of them have a similar definition of an Editor-In-Chief.
Accdg. again to Wikipedia, The Typical responsibilities of editors-in-chief include:
- Cross-checking facts, spelling, grammar, writing style, design pages and photos;
- Rejecting writing that appears to be plagiarized, ghost-written by another sub-editor, previously published elsewhere, or simply of insufficient interest to the readers of the publication;
- Editing any content in question;
- Contributing editorial pieces;
- Motivating and developing editorial staff;
- Ensuring final draft is complete and no area is left empty;
- Handling reader complaints and taking responsibility for resulting issues; and
- For books or journals, cross-checking citations and examining references
Simple as, I always wanted to become an Editor-in-chief.
Who are those Editor-In-Chiefs that I admire.
here are they, The Editor-In-Chiefs of the Most Famous Fashion Magazine in US and Philippines.
1st Row L to R: Anna Wintour of Vogue, Anne Fulenwider of Marie Claire, Roberta Myers of Elle and Jim Nelson of GQ; 2nd Row: Pauline Juan of Preview, Sari Yap of Mega, Michealle Torres of Metro and Rey Ilagan of Garage.
Of course, Philippines also have Editor-In-Chiefs that are as good as them.
I admire the US Fashion EICs, But I Support and Believe on the Filipino Fashion EICs.
You can see the visions of the Filipino EIC almost level to the vision about fashion of the US Fashion EIC.
Few Years from now, I want to see myself or those aspiring Filipino Editor-in-chiefs sitting on the Front Rows of New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week Sitting beside or across to Anna Wintour, Roberta Myers, Anne Fulenwider and Jim Nelson and other Fashion Editors around the world.
A Front Row sit is always my dream and I think a Fashion Lovers dream too!
Hope This Dream will come true. Soon.
